About Reiki & Ascension Healing

Reiki is a Japanese healing art that channels universal life force energy through a practitioner's hands to promote balance and wellness. Developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, Reiki is based on the principle that energy flows through all living things. This knowledge comes from ancient text found in Tibetan history, and it appears in other cultures in history as well. When that energy becomes blocked or imbalanced, it shows up as physical, emotional, or spiritual distress.

By gently laying hands on or near the body, a Reiki practitioner helps restore energetic harmony. Reiki Ascension Healing Arts blends traditional Usui techniques with modern spiritual principles, including practices like reading the Akashic Records during chakra balancing and DNA activation.

Ascension refers to elevating your spiritual awareness and energetic vibration. Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?
"Rei" means universal consciousness. "Ki" means life force energy. Reiki is a Japanese healing art where a practitioner uses gentle touch or near-contact to channel energy through the body's chakras and meridians. This promotes stress reduction, relaxation, and healing on every level.
How does a Reiki session work?
You remain fully clothed, typically on a massage table or in a chair. The practitioner places their hands over or near your body in various positions, guided intuitively by the energy they sense. There is no massage, pressure, or manipulation of any kind.
What does Reiki feel like?
Experiences vary for every person. You may feel warmth, tingling, gentle pulsing, or deep relaxation. Some people experience emotional release or a sense of lightness afterward. Each session is unique to what your body needs at that time.
Do I need any prior experience?
No. To learn how to practice Reiki, you study under a Reiki Master who attunes you to hold space and channel energy. Our course covers Levels I and II together to give you a complete foundation to begin practicing.
How can I attend?
All classes are offered in person at our Ferndale, Michigan location and live online via video. You can join from anywhere in the world. Choose whichever format works best for you.
What is Ascension Healing?
Ascension Healing combines intuitive energy work with subconscious reprogramming, inner child healing, trauma healing, and more. The practitioner draws on multiple modalities to help you release old patterns and step into a higher state of awareness.

Meet Your Instructor

Donna Lakes has been a Reiki Practitioner since 1995 and a Reiki Master/Teacher since 1999. She studied under Michelle Sobel (Reiki Master/Teacher), June Destefano, D.O., and Irene Gauthier at Irene's Myomassology Institute. Over 20+ years of working with 20 clients per week, Donna developed her own approach: blending classic Usui Master Reiki with modern intuitive practices guided by Spirit.

Donna is also an Intuitive Healer, Ascension Coach, Inner Child Healer, Past Life Healer, Trauma Informed Practitioner, Somatic Release Facilitator, Spiritual Teacher, and Life Coach as well as trained in kundalini yoga and craniosacral therapy among other skills. Her passion is teaching people to love themselves and reach their full potential.
